New direct route boosts connections to Asia
Premium carrier Qatar Airways has announced a new direct route to Doha, the capital of Qatar, from Göteborg Landvetter Airport. For business and leisure travellers in western Sweden, the new flights will mean improved connections to 150 destinations.
“Qatar’s new service opens up new opportunities for the business community in the Gothenburg region. It improves possibilities for trade, in particular, with Asia and Africa,” explains Henrik Einarsson, Director of Business Establishment and Investment at Business Region Göteborg.
Starting on 12 December 2018, the non-stop service will fly five times per week from Gothenburg to Doha. The aircraft will have seating for 254 passengers.
“In recent years we’ve seen strong increases in both trade and investment to and from Asia,” says Henrik Einarsson.
Business Region Göteborg is part of the Go:connect initiative, involving Swedish airport operator Swedavia, Göteborg & Co, Västsvenska Turistrådet, Visit Sweden and the West Sweden Chamber of Commerce, which works to improve the region's offering of non-stop flights.
“The new route is a highly sought after addition and is the result of long-term efforts from many actors in the region who work together to improve Gothenburg’s global accessibility,” says Henrik Einarsson.
Göteborg Landvetter Airport, located about 25 kilometres from Gothenburg’s city centre, currently offers around 90 non-stop services to destinations in over 20 different countries.
