The eyes of the world are directed towards Gothenburg as the leading region in research and development of connected, automated and sustainable transport solutions. Therefore, we now publish all the articles we have written about the automotive industry in English.

Recently it became known that Volvo Cars has signed a framework agreement with Uber to sell tens of thousands of autonomous driving compatible base vehicles between 2019 and 2021. The base vehicles are developed on Volvo Cars fully modular Scalable Product Architecture, SPA, which is one of the most advanced car architectures in the world. The platform is currently used on the 90 series as well as on the new XC60 midsize SUV.

"Volvo Cars CEO Håkan Samuelsson stated that Volvo Cars aims to be the supplier of choice for automated distribution ride-sharing service providers globally. The agreement with Uber is an example of this strategic direction and a pointer of how much is being invested in this field in the Gothenburg region and the strength of the ecosystem that exists here," says Per Österström, Manager Automotive and Transport at Business Region Göteborg.

Business Region Göteborg has long been involved in the change of the industry and has highlighted many examples of this development through stories from the regional business community. The interest in reading about the region's progress and the companies involved in and leading the change is great, and so is the interest to invest and establish new businesses here. Therefore, we now publish all the articles we have written about the automotive industry in English.

"We can promise one thing – there is more to come," says Per Österström.
